Spirit of the Night

Diaphanous faeries hover in the twilight on both front and back of this guitar inspired by the artwork of John Atkinson Grimshaw. A grand auditorium cutaway body and Luna’s piezo pickup and preamp system give Spirit of the Night a versatility of sound that’s equally well suited to an intimate living room gathering or a concert hall stage. About John Atkinson Grimshaw (1836-1893) 
A British painter best known for his stunningly evocative night scenes, portraits, and paintings of faeries, Grimshaw enjoyed success as an artist during his lifetime. Although he spent some time in London, Grimshaw’s base was his hometown of Leeds. Influenced by the Pre-Raphaelites, he was said to have been a friend of the artist James Whistler.

The haunting woman depicted inTennyson’s epic poem about the legend sails a river of song in this exceptional spruce-topped acoustic/electric cutaway guitar. Luna has created an instrument that delivers outstanding sound quality and a visual experience that will leave audiences and players, alike, enchanted. About John Waterhouse (1849 – 1917)

Born in Italy and reared in Britain, John Waterhouse was the son of an artist who embraced the Victorian era’s pre-Raphaelite movement. Influenced by Alma-Tadema, Leighton and other painters of the time, Waterhouse enjoyed popularity and success during his lifetime. His Lady of Shalott was displayed at Britain’s Royal Academy in 1888. The artwork was inspired by the legend of Camelot and takes its title from the poetry of Tennyson. Waterhouse’s Mermaid dates to 1901 and hangs today in the Royal Academy.

An ancient symbol of of security and joy, pictures of dolphins are common in the catacombs of Rome.
